Chapter History
Marcum was instituted on January 22, 1912, received Chapter on October 2, 1912. There were 29 Charter members.
The Chapter met in a two story wooden building located at 1st and B St. in Ceredo, WV. In September 1960 a letter was sent to the Worthy Grand Matron, Sister Veva McFadden, for permission to move the Chapter meetings, and Kenova Lodge to meet in their Lodge room on the 2nd and 4th Mondays. A dispensation was received from the Worthy Grand Matron to move Marcum Chapter to Kenova, also Kenova Lodge gave permission to hold their meeting there.
In 1983 the first apple butter was made as a fund raiser for the Chapter. Every year since the Chapter has made apple butter sometimes with as many as 4 kettles. A lot of fellowship, food, fun and hard work is put into this project.
Kenova #111, merged with Marcum #61 on January 10, 1995.
