Chapter History
On July 6, 1910, Tiskelwah Chapter No. 45 was instituted with the officers of Parkersburg Chapter No. 14 assisting in the installation.
Our first meeting place was in the old Kanawha Valley Bank Building at the corner of Kanawha Boulevard and Capitol Street an elevator, along a long hail, down about five steps into a lobby, then into our hall. It was a regular fire trap. After the Scottish Rite bought the old Methodist Church, where the Post Office now stands, they Invited us to meet in their rooms, which we gratefully accepted. The going brightened up. From there we came to our present meeting place. Our Chapter began earning money by serving dinners to church groups, civic groups and Masonic groups. This is still our main source of income.
The following Chapters have been instituted by Tiskelwah Chapter No. 45: St. Albans No. 75 (new No. 79), Salina No. 81, Malden, Buffalo 92 (now No. 150), Chelyan No. 101 and Madison No. 121. It served as hostess to the Grand Chapter of West Virginia in 1921, 1928, 1934 1917, 1953 and 1976.
