Chapter History
Friday, April 17, 1908, Thirty-seven (37) residents gathered in the Masonic Hall, Fairmont, Marion County, West Virginia to form the chapter. An election of officers was taken. On the evening of April 28, 1908, Fairmont Chapter was opened by Worthy Grand Patron, Brother Stephen Waterhouse, Jr., Naomi Chapter #12 of Grafton and members of Parkersburg, Clarksburg and Salem Chapters. The officers were duly installed and forty-seven (47) candidates were initiated into the Order. Each member was asked to pay $1.00 to defer expenses.
Sarah Vandergrift was the first Worthy Matron to run a second term for Fairmont Chapter #34 in 2005-06. Lisa Schideler ran her second term 2006-07 and began her third term for 2007-08 when she passed away July 31, 2007. Enola Pigott, who was Associate Matron, then became Worthy Matron 2007-08 and is also in her second term.
William B. Bee served eight years (8) as Worthy Patron. Harry Pigott served six years (6) as Worthy Patron. Howard Davis served three years (3) as Worthy Patron for Fairmont Chapter #34 and three Years (3) for Shinnston Chapter #103.
