Chapter History
Ellenboro Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 20 members celebrated the chapter’s 100th anniversary Saturday
Nov. 3
with a dinner. The Ellenboro chapter was chartered Oct. 14
1907
by approximately 42 members and in celebration of those members
current chapter members hosted a dinner.
Ellenboro chapter has 52 members
including nine members who have been part of the organization for 50 years.
In 1907
when the organization was chartered
dues were 50 cents. Dues during the 1920’s and 1930’s were $1.25 per year. Dues have risen over the past 100 years to the current rate of $12.

The 2007-08 worthy matron is Pat Kiggins and worthy patron is Rex Cox. During the past 100 years Ellenboro chapter has had one worthy grand patron Tom G. Strickler who served at the state level from 1921-22; one worthy grand matron who served at the state level Dollie Strickler from 1913-14 and one grand officer Lessie Strickler who served from 1971-72. ) One family has had three generations of women members of the organization. The late Lelah Kelly was a past matron followed by her daughter Emma Kelly Simonton Mowrey who is a 50 year member and past matron and her daughter Loris Simonton Dalton who has been a member for 45 years.
