Chapter History
Mason Chapter No. 157, 0.E.S. was instituted on Saturday, August 21, 1965 with a total of 47 Charter members present. During these years we have had two (2) Grand Chapter officers, Sisters Wanda Gabritsch, Grand Ruth and Nellie Casto, Grand Martha, both deceased. We have had nine (9) Grand Representatives, Sisters Nellie Casto (deceased) Earlene Bumgardner, Ann Blake, Phyllis Gilkey and Brothers Oscar Casto, (deceased), Larry Bumgardner and presently serving William Hussell. The cornerstone for the new Masonic Building was laid on August 2, 2003. With the help of the Eastern Star members, who work in the Mason County Fair every year operating a food booth, catered dinners and baked and sold Apple Dumplings, who, by the way are famous for and’ might be called “The Apple Dumpling gang”, the building was paid off in February, 2008.
