Chapter History
Shepherdstown is the oldest incorporated town in West Virginia. Nestled in the mist of Shepherdstown’s business district you will find Mt. Nebo Lodge No. 91 AF & AM home to Shepherdstown Chapter No. 155 Order of the Eastern Star. This Chapter was instituted June 16, 1956. Golden Rule Chapter No. 69, Martinsburg provided the officers and ritualistic work. The first stated meeting was held June 28, 1956. The Charter was received on November 23, 1956. Thirty-eight sisters and ten brothers were initiated. Of these forty-eight charter members eight are still living. The Chapter celebrated its Twenty-fifth anniversary on June 16, 1981. On October 22, 2006, the Chapter celebrated its fifty year anniversary. Worthy Grand Matron, Sister Bobbie Bonnell and Worthy Grand Patron Lewis 0. Braithwaite attended the celebration. Many members attended. Within our membership we have three generations of sisters.
On June 1, 2006 Hedgesville Chapter No. 67 merged with Shepherdstown Chapter No. 155. Hedgesville Chapter No. 67 was instituted in 1913.
As we move into the next fifty years, Shepherdstown Chapter No. 155 desires to increase its membership and continue to be a successful Chapter.
