Chapter History
Nitro Chapter U.D. was instituted June 26, 1954. With the assistance of WGP, Harold Brammer and Instructor, Olive Bowyer, and the hard work and perseverance of a group of members we were recommended for a charter at the Grand Chapter Session. On October 15, 1954, we received our Charter, dated as of October 9, 1954, at our Constitution meeting. Many friends from our Grand Jurisdiction were present. The first group of officers consisting of Golda Roark, MM; James Roark, WP; Sybal VanNetta, AM and Norman Phelps, AP were installed and we became Nitro Chapter No. 153 with 50 charter members. Our first Grand Visitation was held May 6, 1955 and our first Grand Chapter appointment was Sister Golda Roark, Grand Representative to California in 1954/55.
In 2008 we will have been a Chapter for 54 years, having had over the years many hard working and dedicated officers, members and friends who have touched each of our lives.
