Chapter History
Buffalo Chapter No. 150, Order of the Eastern Star, was instituted on September 5, 1952. Of the forty-one Charter members, nine are still living - Gloria Anderson, Alice Beaver, Juanita Burdette, Ruby Jeffries, Betty Knell, Oma McLane, Barbara Raynes, Charles Raynes and Goldie Rogers.
Our Chapter meets on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month at the Lodge Hall of Kanawha Valley Lodge No. 36 A.F. & A.M. The building is located on River Street in Buffalo, WV, which is between Charleston and Pt. Pleasant and overlooks the Kanawha River. The town of Buffalo was originally chartered in 1837 and named for Buffalo Creek, which derived its name from the many bison (buffalo) that roamed that section of the county.
