Chapter History
Coal City Chapter #136 O.E.S. was organized on October 3, 1941 by John L. Zimmer WGP and Etta M. Barners GS. Appointed by John L. Zimmer WGP, were Lucille Whitley, WM, Anthony Kell, WP, Tressa L. Huff, AM and Willis Meadows, AP. There are 39 Charter Members (one still living.) Two of our members are part of the Grand Family.
For more than forty years our yearly project was a cushion rental concession at the West Virginia State Fair. During this time, we held our meetings at the Masonic Lodge Hall in Coal City. In June 2005, we made a decision to leave this building and for lack of storage space gave up this very lucrative concession. We have now relocated to our new address at Tingler Avenue in Coal City. Hot dog and barbecue sales as well as rummage and yard sales are fund raisers for our chapter.
We have a very strong chapter, a group of people who love and respect one another and who each year come together to fill the eighteen offices required for a chapter. We meet the first and third Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m.
